ABOUT
Nicolas Henni-Trinh Duc holds a PhD in art history from La Sorbonne University. A specialist in Vietnamese art, his academic research focuses on the evolution of images in transnational contexts (colonisation, migration, globalisation), particularly the transformation of artistic practices and the genealogy of forms. His work addresses recurring themes: the identity negotiation of diaspora artists; the new meanings given to rituals in modern & contemporary art; the social uses of images and especially portraiture; the visual and technical Asian influences in Western modern art.Drawing on his extensive knowledge for Việt Art Paris, Nicolas Henni-Trinh Duc’s expertise encompasses both fine arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, lacquer), including the School of Fine Arts of Indochina, and decorative arts (bronze, ceramic, textile, furniture).
